About the Organization: Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) is a State Government university established at Nagapattinam on June 19, 2012, under the Tamil Nadu Fisheries University Act, 2012. It was renamed in 2018 in honour of Dr. J. Jayalalithaa. The University provides professional education, research, training and extension services in fisheries and allied sciences to support the development of the fisheries sector. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes through four faculties: Fisheries Sciences, Fisheries Engineering, Basic Sciences, and Food Science and Nutrition.

Educational Qualification:

  • Assistant Professor (Statistics / Agricultural Statistics): Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Statistics or Agricultural Statistics.
  • Assistant Professor (Fisheries Biotechnology):
    • Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and an M.Tech. / M.Sc. in Biotechnology with NET qualification; or a B.F.Sc. and M.F.Sc. in Fish Biotechnology / Fish Genetics and Breeding with NET qualification.
    • Alternatively, candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, an M.Tech. / M.Sc. in Biotechnology and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology; or a B.F.Sc. and M.F.Sc. in Fish Biotechnology / Fish Genetics and Breeding and a Ph.D. in Fish Biotechnology / Fish Genetics and Breeding.
Pay Scale/Salary:
  • Assistant Professor (Statistics / Agricultural Statistics): Rs. 50,000/- per month.
  • Assistant Professor (Fisheries Biotechnology) with NET qualification: Rs. 45,000/- per month.
  • Assistant Professor (Fisheries Biotechnology) with Ph.D. qualification: Rs. 50,000/- per month.
