About the Organization: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is a Government of India company and a premier Miniratna Schedule 'A' company under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Incorporated in 1972, CSL is engaged in shipbuilding, ship repair and marine engineering training, with its Marine Engineering Training Institute (METI) located in Kochi, Kerala.

Positions Open:

  • Faculty (Marine Chief Engineer) on Contract Basis – 01 Post
  • Faculty (Master Mariner – Foreign Going) on Contract Basis – 01 Post
  • Faculty (Electro Technical Officer) on Contract Basis – 01 Post

Departments:

  • Marine Engineering Training Institute (METI)

Educational Qualification:

  • Faculty (Marine Chief Engineer):
    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
    • Certificate of Competency (COC) issued or recognised by DGMA, Government of India, as Marine Engineer Officer Class I (MEO Class I) – Unlimited Horse Power.
    • Certification in Vertical Integration Course on Training (VICT) or Training for Trainers and Assessors (TOTA) course prior to October 1, 2018 conducted by DGS-approved Institutes is desirable.
  • Faculty (Master Mariner – Foreign Going):
    • Certificate of Competency as Master Mariner (Foreign Going) issued by DGMA, Government of India.
    • Certification in Vertical Integration Course for Trainers (VICT) or Training for Trainers and Assessors (TOTA) and Assessment, Examination & Certification of Seafarers (AECS) is desirable.
  • Faculty (Electro Technical Officer):
    • Degree in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering from a recognised University.
    • Certification in Vertical Integration Course on Training (VICT) or Training for Trainers and Assessors (TOTA) course prior to October 1, 2018 conducted by DGS-approved Institutes is desirable.

Experience:

  • Faculty (Marine Chief Engineer):
    • Candidates should have sailed as Chief Engineer on Indian or Foreign going Ships.
    • Teaching experience in DGS-approved Institutes is desirable.
    • Sailing experience on Gas Tankers as Chief Engineer / Second Engineer with DC endorsement is desirable.
  • Faculty (Master Mariner – Foreign Going):
    • Candidates should have sailed as Master Mariner on Foreign going Tanker Ships.
    • Teaching experience in DGS-approved Institutes is desirable.
    • Sailing experience on Oil Tanker and Gas Tanker as Master or Chief Officer is desirable.
  • Faculty (Electro Technical Officer):
    • Candidates should have sailed as Electrical Officer on Foreign going Ships.
Pay Scale/Salary:
  • Faculty (Electro Technical Officer): Rs. 85,000/- per month during the first year of contract, with annual increase applicable in subsequent years.
  • Faculty (Marine Chief Engineer) / Faculty (Master Mariner – Foreign Going): Monthly consolidated pay shall be negotiable.

Selection Process:

  • The selection shall be through a Personal Interview carrying 100 marks to be held at Cochin Shipyard Limited, Kochi.
  • Depending upon the number of applications received, CSL may scrutinise applications and prepare a shortlist based on fulfilment of the notified eligibility requirements.
  • Only candidates who successfully complete the Certificate Verification shall be permitted to attend the Personal Interview.
  • The rank list shall be prepared based on the marks secured in the Personal Interview. In case of equal marks, relative merit will be decided based on seniority in age.

Age Limit:

  • The upper age limit for all the posts is 65 years as on October 1, 2026.
  • Applicants should have been born on or after October 2, 1961.

  • Application fee is Rs. 400/- plus applicable bank charges.
  • Candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwBD categories are exempted from payment of the application fee.
