About the Organization: The Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, is an autonomous social science research institution under the Indian Council of Social Science Research, Government of India, and the Government of Kerala’s Department of Planning and Economic Affairs. It conducts research in applied development economics and offers Ph.D. and M.A. programmes in Economics and Applied Economics. These degrees are awarded by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Positions Open:

  • Assistant Professor – 03 Posts (02 UR and 01 PwD)

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates should have an awarded Ph.D. in Economics / Statistics / Demography or another social science subject, with work related to development issues.
  • Candidates should hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks.
  • Candidates should have at least one publication in Development Economics or Development Studies in a UGC-approved or Scopus-indexed journal.

Candidate Profile:

  • Candidates should be able to work in a multicultural research environment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who can teach Macroeconomics / Microeconomics / Econometrics / Statistics / Demography / Environmental Economics / Agricultural Economics / Public Finance or topics in Development Economics at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels, and supervise doctoral research scholars.
Pay Scale/Salary:
  • Academic Level 10 under the 7th Central Pay Matrix.
