About the Organization: Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is an Institution of National Importance established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The institute is promoted by leading oil sector PSUs including ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL, and HPCL, along with the Oil Industry Development Board. Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates should possess a Ph.D. with First Class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, along with a very good academic record throughout.

Experience:

  • Professor: 10 years of teaching / research / industrial experience, of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor.
  • Associate Professor: Minimum 6 years of teaching / research / industrial experience, of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
  • Assistant Professor, Grade-I: Regular appointments can be made for candidates with 3 or more years of teaching / research / industrial experience, excluding experience gained during Ph.D.
  • Assistant Professor, Grade-II: For a fresh Ph.D., the position will be on contract basis for the first three years. Experience gained during Ph.D. will not be considered.
Pay Scale/Salary:

As per 7th CPC:

  • Professor: Level 14A (₹1,59,100 – ₹2,20,200)
  • Associate Professor: Level 13A2 (₹1,39,600 – ₹2,11,300)
  • Assistant Professor Grade I: Level 12 (₹1,01,500 – ₹1,67,400)
  • Assistant Professor Grade II: Level 10/11 (₹57,700 – ₹98,200)

Selection Process:

  • The Institute may restrict the number of candidates called for interview to a reasonable limit based on qualifications and experience, which may be higher than the prescribed essential qualifications.
  • Depending upon the Institute’s needs and availability of suitable candidates, interviews may be conducted periodically.
  • Applicants who are not found suitable for higher positions may be considered for lower positions in the same area of specialization.

  • Upper age limit is 35 years as on the closing date of Cycle II.
  • Age relaxation may be considered in exceptional cases.
  • Relaxation for reserved category candidates shall be permissible as per Government of India guidelines.
