Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati Off Campus, invites applications for 01 Assistant Professor position in Sociology on contract basis for the Centre for Undergraduate Studies. The appointment will initially be up to March 31, 2027, and may be extended based on performance and the requirements of the Institute. Educational Qualification:
- Master’s degree with 55% marks or equivalent grade in Sociology from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- Candidates must have cleared NET conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a similar UGC-accredited test such as SLET/SET, or possess a Ph.D. in accordance with the applicable UGC Regulations, subject to the prescribed exemptions.

Experience:
- Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in the relevant field and two or more years of teaching experience.
- Experience of research on Northeast India and its transnational neighbourhood is desirable.
- Good research and publication track record in peer-reviewed national and international journals is desirable.

- Entry Pay of Rs.57,700 per month at Academic Pay Level 10 as per 7th CPC.
Selection Process:
- Applications received may be shortlisted based on the prescribed eligibility criteria and requirements of the Institute.
- Eligible shortlisted candidates will be communicated by email to appear for the presentation and interview.
- The offline presentation / interview will be conducted at the TISS Guwahati Campus in the third week of September 2026.

- SC/ST/PWD candidates: Rs.250, subject to submission of the required certificate.
- Women candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
